Biographical Information

Harvey Wiley was a professor of chemistry and physics at Purdue University from 1874 to 1883. He went on to become the chief chemist at the USDA and was instrumental in passing the federal Pure Food and Drug Act in 1906. He later worked at the Good Housekeeping Magazine Labs and established the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval.
