Biographical Information
John Clyde Marquis, member of the Purdue University alumnus, earned a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture in 1904. As a student, Marquis was involved in multiple clubs, inlcuding the Emersonian Literary Society, Agricultural Society, and Glee and Mandolin Club. He served on the staff of the Debris Yearbook and Purdue Exponent, and also acted as Class Historian during his senior year.
Following graduation, Marquis was editor of American Agriculturalist and later of Country Gentlemen. He became the director of Public Information of the Bureau of Agricultural Economics, U.S.D.A., from 1922 to 1935. Marquis also served as the American delegate to the International Institute of Agriculture from 1935-1941.
Marquis was given an honorary doctorate in agriculture by Purdue in 1942.
