Biographical Information

Ching Siang Tang Yeh was a Purdue alumnae and professor of chemistry at Purdue University.

Tang was born April 23, 1920 in Shanghai, China to Ching Tze Tang and Chen Yuan Chang. She earned her bachelor's degree from Soo Chow University in China (1943), master's in Science from Purdue University (1949), and PhD from Pensylvannia State University (1951).

During her graduate degree at Purdue, she worked as a graduate assistant in chemistry (1947-1949). In 1951, Yeh was hired as an analyst and instructor in chemistry and directed the Microanalytical Laboratory in the Chemistry department. She was promoted to full professor in 1976 and retired in 1982.

On August 12, 1952, Ching Siang Tang married Pai Tao Yeh, who also became a Purdue professor, in Pensylvannia. They had two daughters, Dr. Sophia Yeh Chen and Dr. Shirley Yeh Kunkel.

Ching Siang Tang Yeh died on January 29, 2006 in West Lafayette, Indiana.
