Biographical Information

Samuel M. Saltmarsh was originally from Sunman, Indiana, and graduated from Purdue University in 1889. As a student, he was involved in the Football Association, Baseball Association, Irving Literary Society, and Scientific Society. Saltmarsh was also part of the editorial staff of the first Debris Yearbook during his senior year. He completed military training as a student and joined the U.S. Army after graduation, eventually serving in France during World War I as Colonel of the 158th Infantry. Professionally, Saltmarsh spent most of his career working in various roles with the Sante Fe Railroad.
