Biographical Information

Richard (Dick) Armacost was born on February 27, 1914, in St. Bernard, Ohio, to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Armacost of Cincinnati, Ohio. Armacost earned his BA from Miami University in 1936 and his Master of Science from Iowa State University in 1938. He earned his PhD in Botany from Iowa State University in 1940. He served as Associate Professor of Morphology and Botany from 1946-1940 as he completed his studies at Iowa State from 1936-1940.

After completing his studies, Armacost worked as Associate Professor of Biological Education at Syracuse University from 1940-1950. He joined the faculty at Purdue University as professor of Biological Education from 1950 until his untimely death in 1959.

He was married to Katherine and they had two daughters, Betsy and Susan. He died on February 26, 1959, in Lebanon, Indiana.
