Biographical Information

He was born in Hammond, Indiana. He started college at Purdue in 1948, majored in chemical engineering, and graduated in 1952. He attended Indiana University for medical school. From 1953-55 he was in the Army Chemical Corps as a chemical engineer. He was the president of the American Academy of Pediatrics from 1996-1997. At Purdue, he was also a professor of psychological sciences and professor of chemical engineering. He worked as a pediatrician at Arnett Clinic in Lafayette, IN from 1962-2000.
