The Occupy Purdue Movement officially organized in November, 2011 "to engage the Purdue community" and "explore alternative social relations...geared towards justice, compassion, and autonomy". It identifies with the Occupy Wall Street Movement which began in Washington, DC and spread across the world and "views capitalist...inequity as a fundamental impediment to substantive democratic expression and social progress, worldwide".
