Historical Information

The Society for Promoting the Employment of Women (SPEW) was established in 1858 and incorporated in 1879. It was founded in England by Jessie Boucherett (1825-1905) and aimed to serve women in the United Kingdom and "encourage [them] towards economic independence through employment". Today, the society is known as Futures for Women (FfW).
