Scope and Contents

The Arthur H. Fisher papers contain artifacts, certificates, a diploma, photographs, and miscellaneous items from Arthur Fisher's time spent as a Purdue University student. There are some items that Fisher obtained after his tenure as a student, such as alumni loyalty certificates. This collection would be very valuable to anyone interested in student life at Purdue University during the early 20th century or the Purdue Military Band.

Biographical Information

Arthur Harter Fisher, "Art" to his friends, was a Purdue student from Ossian, Indiana.1916 to 1920. He graduated in 1920 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture. While at Purdue he was a member of the Agricultural Society, the Purdue Athletic Association (P.A.A.), and the Purdue University Military Band.

The material has been arranged into two series based on format.

Acquisition Information

Collection material was donated by Wendel Fisher, Arthur Fisher's youngest son, on June 26, 2002 and December 4, 2009.

Processing Information

The material has been placed in acid-free folders and acid-free boxes. The photographs have been placed in polyester sleeves. One of the photo albums was separated from its original binding and its individual pages were placed into six acid-free folders with five pages in each folder. The cover, binding, and back cover were also retained and placed within an acid-free folder. All artifacts have been wrapped in tissue for preservation purposes. Small artifacts in Box 2 have been placed into smaller artifact boxes, in order to protect the items within the bigger acid-free box. Whenever possible, original order of the materials has been retained.
