Biographical Information

Larry Cargnino was born in Virden, Illinois and came to work for Purdue University in 1945 when the School of Aeronautics had been approved by the Board of Trustees. His first task was to prepare curricula for both the Air Transportation and Aeronautical Engineering programs. Prior to coming to Purdue, he worked at Ford School, Willow Run Michigan and Boeing in Seattle. He describes campus life in the 1940s and 1950s. He continued to be involved in the Air Transportation program until its termination in the fall of 1955. Cargnino remained on the Faculty in the School of Aeronautics and was one of the co-authors of the book, One small step: the history of aerospace engineering at Purdue University.
