Biographical Information

Ernest A. Bureau was a student in the engineering department at Purdue University in the early 20th century. He received both a Bachelors of Science and an advanced Electrical Engineering degree from Purdue (1915). In addition he received a PhB from Ottawa University of Kansas (1906) and is credited with post-graduate work at the California Institute of Technology. Bureau taught high school physics for a brief period of time in the Midwest before moving on to teach Electrical Engineering at the University of Kentucky, where he stayed for the remainder of his career (1918-1952), eventually becoming the head of the department. In addition to his career in engineering education, Bureau was also a member of several honorary fraternities for engineers.
