Biographical Information
Clarence Linus Cory (1872-1937) was born in Lafayette on September 4, 1872.
He graduated from Purdue University in 1889 with a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering (BME). He earned his Master's of Engineering (ME) from Cornell University in 1891 and then returned to Purdue University where he earned his E.D. in 1914.
Cory was a Professor of Electrical Engineering at Highland Park College in Des Moines, Iowa (1891 - 1892). He then accepted a position as a Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of California at Berkeley in 1892, and became the Dean of the College of Mechanics in 1901. Purdue University awarded Cory with an honorary Doctor of Engineering degree, the third it had bestowed.
Dr. Cory died on August 2, 1937.
