Historical Information

Teachers Encouraging a Love for Literature (TELL) began in 1989 as a collaboration between Lauralee Foerster from the Lafayette (Indiana) School Corporation and Jill P. May, professor of children's literature at Purdue University. It was governed by an elected board of active members who were classroom teachers, librarians, and Purdue faculty and graduate students. TELL encouraged professionals to collaborate with others in the field of children's literature and share stories that could increase literacy and cultural understanding for their students. The organization was active until the late 2000s.
