Historical Information

The Purdue University Arena was built in 1967. It was located immediately north of Lambert Fieldhouse and took just over 2 years to complete. It was renamed Guy J. Mackey Arena in 1971 and, in 2011, a major expansion took place.

The Mackey Arena records contain photographs and a special edition of the Journal and Courier about the new arena and wishes Purdue's basketball team luck in their next season. Varying business also purchased advertising space in the edition showing their support of Purdue Athletics.
